The Role
The Global Technical Specialist (GTS) for the Energy Model and Toolchain Development Team will lead advancement of the suite of analysis and simulation tools used by GM engineers to predict and develop Range, Efficiency, Capability and Drive Quality performance.
What You'll Do
Identify and Lead/Coordinate/Prioritize implementation of improvements to core tools and user interfaces, increasing efficiency and intuitiveness.Ensure On Time and High Quality release of Energy Toolchain products.Grow capability in areas such as Co-Simulation, AI, Machine Learning, Variation Analysis, Tool/Scenario Modularity & Simulation Fidelity Level flexibility.Increase the capability of the tool development team through implementation of consistent methods and techniques.Train and mentor team members, peer review their contributions and provide feedback/coaching as needed.Support the user community through training, reference/help documentation, and direct user support.Lead analysis support for urgent issue resolutionCollaborate cross-functionally with Technical Leaders, Tool Developers and Users in other focus areas such as Thermal, Vehicle Dynamics, Vehicle Controls, Electrification, Propulsion Systems, etc.Regularly assess industry State of the Art tools and techniques, ensuring GM maintains a leadership position.

7+ years relevant experience developing vehicle simulation tools, specifically those related to Energy, Efficiency, and Drive QualityMasters Degree in EngineeringHighly skilled in MATLAB/Simulink coding and interface designFamiliarity with other software, code and simulation tools such as MS-Suite, GT-Suite, AMESim, Python, C, JavaScript, Linux, GMSim, AVLSolid understanding of engineering theory and principles of mechanical/electrical/thermal systems and controlsSignificant analytical ability where problems are unusual and complexEffectively present and communicate in small and large team forumsAble to understand and effectively represent the needs of tool users and product customersCan work independently in a disciplined and consistent manner with minimal guidanceCollaborate effectively with others for mutual benefit, emphasizing teamworkWilling to challenge Peers and Supervisors when appropriateWhat Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)
