Work ScheduleWeekly rotating shifts: 1st shift (days), 2nd shift (afternoons), 3rd shift (midnights)
Production:Performs all jobs within the department. Assists the Filling department with bagfitter changes and hauling barrels and supplies to and from the department. Checks mailbox for any changes. Check schedule for product running. Make copies of production schedule for each line. Changes filters at designated times. Furnishes lines with correct supplies, brings supplies to the room. Sets up and starts up lines whenever scheduled. Operates a lift truck, garbage compactor, cardboard baler, and all equipment. Assists the line operator in housekeeping. Assist with salvaging. Relieve operators for breaks. Haul out all pump out and full barrels in the room – to be blown out or hauled out or on pallets. Label control Label counts for front office on day shift. Keep supplies stocked.
Sanitation:Assist in tear downs, cleanup and assembles equipment during changeovers. Cleans machines periodically throughout and the shift to ensure run ability and GMP’s. Keeps aisles and hallways behind the room clean and free of debris. Keep room and floors cleaned when there is not a Misc. person scheduled.
Quality:Responsible for the quality of product, proper seals, correct dates and correct supplies on the line. Responsible making sure paper towel holders are full and change when needed. Responsible for changing soap and sanitizer by hand wash sinks.
Safety:Follow all safety rules. Use LO/TO procedures. Visually observe that other personnel are clear of machinery when starting up – in addition, yell “Fingers”. Need to be constantly aware of forklift traffic. Use safety precautions when using a ladder or elevated platform. Use caution around moving equipment.
Lifting Requirements:Moderate – Handles medium material frequently (20# to 80#). Filler pipes handled during a changeover and pallets may exceed 100#; often handled in an awkward position.
Working Conditions:Fair – Environmental factors because of unavoidable need to work in variable temperature, noisy, dusty and on occasions, wet environment. Minimal present of hazards, machinery is well guarded.
Training:The Filling Utility Operator is expected to be competent after three months, may need six months if inexperienced with the department.
