System Safety EngineerKBR’s National Security Solutions team provides high-end engineering and advanced technology solutions to our customers in the intelligence and national security communities. KBR (formerly LinQuest) is the prime contractor on the MSEIT contract. By applying to this position, you are in consideration for KBR employment. However, you also have the option to be hired by one of our subcontractor teammates.
KBR is seeking a Systems Safety Engineer to join our team in El Segundo, CA. You must be authorized to work in the U.S. and able to obtain a Secret clearance as required.
You will join the MILSATCOM Systems Engineering team to help define the next generation of space communication systems supporting Air Force Military Satellite Communications. You will support Systems Engineering & Integration activities in a multidisciplinary and collaborative environment. You will interface and collaborate with SE&I team members, contractors, government civilians and members of the USAF. You may lead and support working groups responsible for leading technical discussion, resolving and identifying risks and requirements gaps, developing briefings, writing and tracking action items, and authoring meeting minutes.
The MILSATCOM Systems Engineering, Integration, and Test (MSEIT) effort provides leading edge Systems Engineering & Integration (SE&I) for the Air Force’s Space and Missiles System Center. We support the Air Force’s acquisition of state of the art Military Satellite Communications systems, providing global secure, survivable, and protected communications for our nation’s warfighters. Key Responsibilities:
Support the MSEIT System Safety Government Team by evaluating ESOH risks identified by the government, contractors, or other stakeholders, preparing ESOH documents and providing system safety support for Space Flight Worthiness certificationDocument, perform, and execute changes to Government System Safety documentsReview and participate in government evaluations of contractor documentation to hazard analyses, mitigation strategies, and safety assessments, as well as advise the government teamPerform safety risk assessments in accordance with MSEIT Program and Space Force guidance documents and prepare safety risk assessments for acceptance or for further mitigation.Prepare documents including but not limited to: Programmatic Environmental, Safety, and Occupational Health Evaluation (PESHE) and Space Debris Assessment Report/End of Life Plan for space vehiclesPrepare and support the System Safety elements of the space vehicle Space Flight Worthiness certificationCollaborating with prime contractors, other support contractors, government civilians, and members of the U.S. Space ForceRequired:
Ability to obtain a Secret clearance is required for this positionBS in technical field, such as engineering, mathematics, physics, or computer science5+ years’ experience in systems engineering1+ years’ experience in Systems Safety engineering, to include System Safety Engineering practices, techniques, and procedures and working with System Safety military standards and regulationsAbility to coordinate with numerous stakeholders and customersStrong interpersonal skills to enable working and interfacing with diverse personnel and working in a dynamic team environmentPossess strong written and verbal communication skills, including public speakingProficient in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)Desired:
MS degreeCertifications in Systems Engineering (INCOSE ESEP, CSEP)Knowledge and experience in Jira and ConfluenceExperience with MILSATCOM, such as AEHF, EPS, WGS, and FAB-T terminal programsExperience working with military and DoD civilian clientsExperience and familiarity experience working on a government space systems programExperience working on a Systems Engineering and Integration (SE&I) contractActive Secret Clearance or higherBasic Compensation: $120,000-$140,000 in California
The offered rate will be based on the selected candidate’s knowledge, skills, abilities and/or experience and in consideration of internal parity.
