Supplier Quality Director

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in Quality Management, Engineering, Supply Chain or related field. Minimum 10 years of experience in supplier quality or quality leadership roles within the aerospace industry. More than 8 years of experience in Quality, Supplier Quality or Supplier Management. Experience with supplier auditing, qualifications, and advanced quality tools (APQP, PPAP, FMEA, SPC, LPA). Ability to travel domestically and internationally at least 50% of the time.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master’s Degree Certified Lead Auditor for AS9100 and/or ISO 9001 Knowledge and experience in metallurgical processes including casting, machining or coating; a strong material sciences background is a plus. Experience managing remote or global teams. Aerospace manufacturing background. Certifications such as ASQ, CQE, CQA, Six Sigma, or Lean are highly desirable.

Salary Range $160,000 - $200,000, depending on experience and geographical location.

The Supplier Quality Director is responsible for developing and leading the supplier quality strategy across all business unit programs (aerospace and industrial gas turbine) to ensure that supplied products meet rigorous aerospace industry standards, customer requirements, and regulatory compliance (including AS9100, FAA, EASA, and related). This role oversees supplier performance, drives continuous improvement, documents and manages supplier risk, and ensures robust supplier qualification and development processes consistent with business objectives. Collaborate cross-functionally with global procurement, manufacturing, and engineering teams to resolve supplier issues, ensure alignment with customer and regulatory requirements, and support new product launches.

Key Responsibilities:

Develop, implement, and lead the global supplier quality strategy aligned with company goals and aerospace/industrial standards. Lead a team of supplier quality engineers, managers, and auditors to monitor, assess, and improve supplier performance. Establish and maintain supplier qualification, approval, and auditing processes, including ASL (Approved Supplier List) management. Collaborate cross-functionally with quality, procurement, operations, and engineering to resolve supplier issues and ensure alignment on quality performance expectations and contract requirements. Drive root cause analysis, corrective actions, and preventive measures for supplier nonconformances, including SCAR (Supplier Corrective Action Requests). Implement risk management processes for the supply base, including supplier risk assessments and mitigation plans. Ensure compliance with aerospace quality management systems (QMS), such as AS9100, and regulatory requirements (FAA, EASA, NADCAP, ITAR). Lead key supplier development initiatives, including process improvement, cost reduction through quality, and innovation partnerships. Report supplier quality performance metrics (PPM, audit performance, SCARs, on-time delivery, etc.) to senior leadership and customers. Support new program introduction (NPI) activities, including supplier readiness assessments and PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) reviews. Ensure robust training and development of the supplier quality team to stay current with aerospace industry trends and requirements.
