Job Summary
Ensures efficient running of the Stewarding department, contributing to the overall success of all restaurants and where necessary events, in accordance with the hotel’s standards and financial goals.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
To assist the stewarding supervisor in cleaning of F&B equipment, facilities, and utensils, as well as the return of cleaned items to the respective area and proper storage, or any other assignment given by the management if and when required. It is mandatory to be vigilant and aware of individual responsibilities of HACCP.
Responsibilities:
• Ensure full liaison with other members of the Stewarding team.
• Strong communication with associates within the department.
• Key relationship with the Chefs and F&B Department associates.
• Develop and maintain excellent working relationship with other departments in the Hotel, especially Culinary and Event Team.
• Ensures cleanliness of all washing up and cleaning machinery and that equipment is in proper working order. Reports faults to the supervisor.
• Learns the fire and safety precautions and in particular those concerning the machinery and equipment used in the dish washing and kitchen areas. Learns how to operate the kitchen firefighting equipment.
• Uses cleaning materials and chemicals in a proper and economical manner.
• Monitor and maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and organization of assigned work areas.
• Ensures that through efficient work practices a high standard of cleanliness and hygiene is achieved.
• Attends training sessions and / or departmental meetings if and when assigned.
• Ensure full liaison with other members of the Stewarding team.
• Ensure that standards are maintained at a superior level on a daily basis.
• Maintain complete knowledge of correct maintenance and use of equipment. Use equipment only as intended.
• Maintain complete knowledge of and comply with all departmental policies, service procedures and standards.
• Anticipate guests’ needs, respond promptly, and acknowledge all guests, however busy and whatever time of day.
• Always maintain positive guest relations.
• Be familiar with all Hotel services/features and local attractions/activities to respond to guest inquiries accurately.

Whist working for the company there will be access to a wide variety of confidential information concerning the company, guests, and associates. It is vital that all such information remains confidential and must not be disclosed to anyone outside the company, guests and associates, unless otherwise stated.
Health & Safety
• Be aware of and comply with safe working practices as laid down under the Health and Safety Act as applicable to your place of work. This will include your awareness of any specific hazards at your workplace.
• The wearing of appropriate protective clothing provided by or recommended by the Company will be obligatory.
• Report any defects in the building, plant, or equipment according to hotel procedure.
• Ensure that any accidents to associates, guests or visitors are reported immediately in accordance with correct procedures.
• Attend Statutory Fire, Health & Safety training and be fully conversant with and abide by all rules concerning Fire, Health & Safety.
