If you are a current employee, please navigate here to apply internally.The Senior Quality Engineer works collaboratively with production, engineering, finished goods, customer service, service centers, supply chain management, purchasing, OSP suppliers, and Corporate Supplier Quality to ensure that processes are followed, and process outcomes meet or exceed expectations. This position services as a leader in advanced quality planning, supplier quality feedback/improvements in quality processes and continual improvement.
Support New Product Development and Change Management with both internal Engineering, Global Supplier Quality, Supply Chain Management for direct suppliers
Support and help improve Advanced Quality Planning activities within product development and sourcing for process handoff to Manufacturing, including measurement devices
Support NPD and Change Management with both internal Engineering, Strategic Sourcing, Supply Chain Management and with Outside Service Providers (OSP) to support print requirements
Develop and maintain Outside Service Suppliers (OSP’s), including establishment and adherence to Zurn Elkay requirements. Outside suppliers include, but are not limited to, fabricating, passivating, chrome plating, galvanizing, AR and blue coating, powder coating, polishing, kitting, packaging.
Train and support OSP’s on quality tools ((APQP, MSA, SPC, PPAP, Process flow diagrams, PFMEA, Control Plans, standard operating procedures, work instructions, inspection records, training plans)
Support QA Technician activities as needed
Develop QMS documentation
Manage calibration system management planning and execution according to IAPMO standards
Perform/Approve First Article Inspections
Ensure manufacturing/service center processes such as Receiving, Stock Selecting / Movement, Fabricating, Assembly, Hydrant Assembly and Packout follow predetermined quality standards
Perform Incoming Inspections using FARO arm, conventional, 2D and 3D CAD drawings
Perform internal quality system and product audits according to ISO 9001, IAPMO standards and Zurn organizational quality management system
Conduct Supplier assessments and Supplier process audits on site as required and actions are documented and followed up to ensure closure
Prioritize and provide quick reaction with the SCAR/CAPA process, working across departments internally and with suppliers and Global Supplier Quality to resolve customer quality concerns, Supplier nonconformities and Incidents and ensure root cause problem solving driven corrective actions
Report supplier nonconformances through the Global Supplier Quality reporting system and Business Unit systems
Coordinate nonconforming material containment process within the business unit
Perform nonconforming material analysis
Manage Cost of Quality information
Support Applications Engineering and Operations in clarifying production print in conjunction with documenting organizational knowledge
Develop a knowledge of products across multiple platforms and mentor Quality Technicians
Maintain quality records
Support continuous improvement activities (#CI) across the company as required
Attend trade shows as needed to benchmark measurement system improvements
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field
5+ years of experience
Experience working with suppliers and achieving results to meet company schedules
Ability to understand print dimensions, tolerances and GD&T
MS Office (Word/Excel/Outlook)
Working knowledge of 8D/Safety problem solving
Working knowledge of ISO 9001, IAPMO, UL, NSF
Project management background, follow-up to conclusion
Ability to establish targets and translate them into actionable plans
ZEBS knowledge a plus (Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen)
Ability to work with Hand Gauges (calipers, micrometers, etc.)
Machining/foundry/sheet metal background a plus
FARO or CMM knowledge a plus
