The Sous Chef with the Hilton Toronto will work closely with the Executive Chef to manage all aspects of the kitchen: deliver an excellent Guest and Member experience while managing food provisions, assisting with guest queries, and controlling costs.

What will you be doing?
Some of the key responsibilities performed to the highest standards as a Sous Chef:
\n\nManage all aspects of the kitchen including operational, quality and administrative functions\nManage the provision of food to Food and Beverage outlets and taking action where necessary to ensure compliance with current legislation\nDrive positive outcomes from guest queries in a timely and efficient manner\nEnsure food items meet quality and storage compliance\nContribute to menu creation by responding and incorporating guest feedback\nEnsure the consistent production of high quality food through all hotel food outlets\nManage customer relations when necessary, in the absence of the Executive Chef\nEnsure resources support the business needs through the effective management of working rotations\nSupport brand standards through the training and assessment of the Team\nManage the kitchen brigade effectively to ensure a well-organized, motivated Team\nControl costs without compromising standards, improving gross profit margins and other departmental and financial targets\nAssist other departments wherever necessary and maintain good working relationships\nComply with hotel security, fire regulations and all health and safety and food safety legislation\nReport maintenance, hygiene, and hazard issues\nBe environmentally aware\nWhat are we looking for?

\n\nMinimum 1 year management or supervisory experience in similar position, preferably in union environment\nDemonstrated ability to meet relevant qualifications for this role\nExcellent planning and organizing skills\nEffective leadership and team building skills\nStrong communication skills\nAbility multi-task and meet deadlines\nCreative and innovative approach to the production of food\nAbility to work calmly under pressure\nA current, valid, and relevant trade qualification (proof may be required)\n\nIt would be advantageous in this position for you to demonstrate the following capabilities and distinctions:
\n\nPrevious kitchen experience in similar role\nExperience working in a unionized environment\nPassion for producing high quality food\nKnowledge of current food trends\nProficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook\n\n
