Software Engineer
**Introduction** IBM is seeking a skilled and motivated Software Engineer to join our OpenShift Data Foundation Console team. As part of our global Hybrid Cloud division, you will contribute directly to the design, development, and evolution of the OpenShift web console — the user interface of the leading enterprise Kubernetes platform built on Red Hat OpenShift. This role provides the opportunity to work on a high-impact open-source product used by enterprises worldwide. You'll collaborate with cross-functional teams across UX, product management, and backend services, while writing modern frontend code and delivering intuitive user experiences. **Your role and responsibilities** * Design, develop, and maintain web-based user interfaces for the OpenShift Data Foundation Console using React, TypeScript, and PatternFly. * Work closely with UX designers and product managers to translate customer needs into accessible, scalable UI solutions. * Participate in code reviews, architecture discussions, and technical planning. * Contribute to upstream open-source projects, including Red Hat OpenShift and Kubernetes community tooling. * Diagnose and fix bugs and performance issues in a large-scale application. **Required technical and professional expertise** * 2-5 years of professional software development experience. * Strong proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript, with hands-on experience in React or similar frontend frameworks. * Familiarity with REST APIs, Git, and modern development tools like Webpack, Redux, ESLint, or Babel. * Basic understanding of Kubernetes or container-based platforms. * Strong debugging, problem-solving, and communication skills. * Experience with agile development practices. **Preferred technical and professional experience** * Prior experience contributing to open-source projects. * Knowledge of backend technologies like Node.js, Go, or Python. * Familiarity with Red Hat OpenShift or other cloud-native platforms. * Exposure to enterprise-scale software or distributed systems. * Interest in building developer tools or platform UIs.
