Your New Role:
As a Senior Windows/Broadcast Engineer, you will be an expert in understanding workstation Operating Systems and broadcast infrastructure to ensure seamless media delivery, and the ability to automate repetitive tasks and configure systems through scripting and automation. You will ensure that the virtual desktop environment is scalable, reliable, and secure while providing a seamless user experience as well as troubleshooting complex broadcast workflows. Our technical footprint consists of virtualized systems that are deployed on-premises and in the cloud. We are responsible for supporting a large range of business stakeholders and workloads from general computing to resource intensive broadcast applications. The engineer will bring a high-level of expertise in the administration of Windows workstation operating systems and a thorough understanding of workstation virtualization and OS architecture. You will be responsible for all areas of the system development lifecycle including management, planning, provisioning, triage, monitoring, and decommissioning of operating systems and associated hardware technologies. You will document solutions ensuring best practices are followed and update stakeholders related to system changes.

Your Role Accountabilities:
Engineering/Primary Responsibilities
Design, deploy, and manage VDI solutions, including but not limited to VMware Horizon.
Perform routine VDI lifecycle management activities, including deployment, updates, and retirement of virtual desktop instances, consistent with ITIL framework.
Ensure high availability and disaster recovery capabilities for the virtual desktop environment.
Implement and maintain security measures and controls, ensuring compliance with company policies and industry standards.
Develop and maintain scripts to automate the deployment of virtual desktops, application installations, and system configurations, enhancing efficiency and consistency.
Create detailed documentation and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
Stay current with emerging VDI technologies, trends, and best practices, recommending improvements and innovations.
Regularly assess system performance, recommend improvements, and perform tuning and resource optimization as required.
Assist with critical patching and vulnerability remediations.
Configure, manage, and maintain group policy.
Other duties and projects as assigned and in a timely fashion.
Operations
Troubleshoot and resolve complex VDI and Broadcast issues, providing third-level support to the help desk and end-users.
Collaborate with network, storage, and system security teams to ensure the VDI environment aligns with the broader IT infrastructure and security architectures.
Monitor, analyze, and optimize the performance and capacity of VDI environments, including network, storage, and compute resources.
Automate systems administration tasks utilizing configuration management tools.
Ensure the highest levels of up-time; Respond to system alerts quickly ensuring that all aspects of our systems infrastructure are at production levels.
Implement and use patch management tools, and application management tools.
Must be willing to accommodate weekend, shift, or on-call schedules when necessary.
Analytics
Develop comprehensive performance analysis of business processes and review ways of improvement.
Actively participate in stakeholder meetings with the goal of understanding all major projects and initiatives planned.
Develop disaster recovery or business continuity plans
Qualifications & Experiences:
Strong experience with scripting languages such as PowerShell or Python.
Knowledge of Ansible or other automation and configuration management tools.
Excellent expertise in Windows Operative System.
Proficient in managing VMware or Microsoft virtual desktop infrastructures.
Experience with cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud, particularly in hybrid VDI deployments.
Understanding of networking protocols, and security configurations.
Administering Active Directory Group Policies
Managing Microsoft Deployment Toolkit or other build frameworks
Experience with infrastructure monitoring tools and techniques.
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure.
Excellent communication and people skills to interact with multiple Broadcast Teams
Candidate must possess 5-8 years of experience in either a Systems Administration or Engineering role.
Knowledge and/or ability to comply with change management processes.
The candidate must have excellent communications skills to be successful.
Ability to organize information and produce technical documentation for operational effectiveness.
Flexible and adaptable; able to work in ambiguous situations.
Position requires after hours support for outages/impairments. Candidates will participate in a 24x7 on call support rotation.
Not Required but preferred experience:
Security best practices
Experience with single sign-on methodologies and secrets managers are a plus (i.e. Cyberark, Keypass etc.)
Experience with VMWare Aria Automation a plus.
Linux desktop operating system experience a plus.
