About the Role
As a Senior Systems Engineer, you’ll lead the design and support of collaboration solutions with a strong focus on core productivity solutions. You will assist the Enterprise Engineering Lead in delivering the EUC roadmap, acting as a point of escalation, and driving technical improvements across both the M365 & Slack ecosystems. You’ll also champion Power Platform/Co-Pilot governance, ensuring solutions are scalable, secure, and aligned with business needs. Additionally, you’ll contribute to a shift-left culture through technical mentorship, agile collaboration, and knowledge-sharing initiatives.
Responsibilities
Advise on and implement best practices across Modern Workplace technologies, including Microsoft 365, SharePoint, Teams, Exchange Online, Co-Pilot, and the Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI).
Configure, manage, and maintain the Microsoft 365 environment, ensuring optimal performance, compliance, and security.
Configure, manage and maintain Elsevier’s Slack grid environment and its workspaces, ensuring optimal performance, compliance, and security.
Develop and enforce Power Platform/Co-Pilot governance policies, helping the business adopt low-code/AI tools responsibly and effectively.
Collaborate with stakeholders to identify business needs and translate them into scalable technical solutions.
Act as a technical SME and escalation point for Microsoft & Slack collaboration productivity platforms.
Deliver enhancements and new features within the M365 & Slack ecosystem and foster end-user adoption.
Work closely with Productivity Squad Leads and business units to roll out and maintain M365 and Power Platform capabilities.
Mentor Engineers at various levels, lead lunch-and-learn sessions, and participate in agile team ceremonies.
Requirements
We’re looking for someone with:
Expert-level experience in M365 administration — including Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, and Exchange Online.
Proven ability to design, implement, and manage M365 and Power Platform solutions with governance in mind.
Strong understanding of governance frameworks and center of excellence models.
Experience leading M365 technical projects, change management efforts, and business-wide rollouts.
Experience mentoring engineers and working within agile delivery teams (standups, retrospectives, etc.).
Beneficial: Experience with Slack administration to support and engage with our developer community.
