About the Role

At AstraZeneca, we are pioneering the future of medicine through our bold vision to extend human healthspan. Our newly established Aging Research Group is leading this charge by developing innovative therapeutics that not only add years to life—but life to years.

We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Scientist to join our dynamic and growing team. As a key member of this cross-functional group, you will play a critical role in the design, validation, and execution of assays tailored for high throughput screening (HTS). Your work will directly contribute to identifying small molecule candidates that reverse age-associated cellular dysfunction.

This position offers the unique opportunity to make a tangible impact on the future of healthcare while working in a collaborative, fast-paced environment at the forefront of aging research.

Key Responsibilities

Design, develop, and optimize HTS-compatible assays for small molecule screening.

Execute HTS campaigns and analyze large, complex datasets to identify and prioritize hit compounds.

Develop and implement cell-based methods to assess senescence and other aging phenotypes.

Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to progress validated hits through the drug discovery pipeline.

Present scientific findings in team meetings, cross-functional collaborations, and external conferences.

Stay current on advancements in aging biology and HTS methodologies, incorporating new tools and strategies where appropriate.

Minimum Qualifications

PhD in a relevant field with 1–4 years postdoctoral or industry experience, OR
MS with 3–5 years relevant experience, OR
BS with 5+ years of experience in assay development and screening.

Proven expertise in assay development, validation, and execution for HTS platforms.

Experience with high-content imaging/microscopy and corresponding data analysis workflows.

Proficiency in HTS data analysis tools and visualization software.

Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.

Demonstrated ability to thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced, and evolving research environment.

Preferred Qualifications

Strong background in cellular senescence and aging-associated phenotypes.

Industry experience in drug discovery within a pharmaceutical or biotech setting.

Familiarity with automation platforms used in HTS.

Record of peer-reviewed publications or patents in aging biology or screening technologies.
