Risk Manager, GRS Tech and Innovation, Global Road Safety
Description Global Road Safety’s mission is to “lead the world’s safest transportation network, protecting the lives of people on road everywhere”. Global Road Safety (GRS) covers all miles and all business units in all countries (22 total) where Amazon conducts on-road operations. The Risk Manager II, Technology & Innovation role has a Global scope responsible for driving the implementation of innovative technology solutions to enhance people, vehicle & infrastructure safety impacting all surface transportation modes across Amazon's global operations. You will collaborate with external/internal partners, vendors, and subject matter experts to leverage leading technologies and best practices in road safety. You will also partner with academia, international organizations and NGO's to develop customized solutions not available in the market. This role serves as a key point of contact for internal stakeholders fostering collaboration ensuring seamless integration of safety initiatives and focus. Key job responsibilities 1. Risk Management - Manage specific risk programs and projects within defined risk strategies - Work independently on assigned areas, seeking guidance when necessary - Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders (e.g., service providers, regulators) - Develop and maintain subject matter expertise in assigned risk areas 2. Risk Assessment and Mitigation - Apply and implement risk assessment and mitigation methodologies - Assist in overseeing control and audit processes, including testing effectiveness - Identify and escalate potential risks that exceed tolerance levels - Contribute to gap analysis in risk assessment methodologies 3. Analysis and Reporting - Conduct risk assessments at product and program levels - Measure and test processes and controls to inform risk assessments - Prepare and contribute to risk-related documentation (e.g., narratives, risk assessments) - Identify and track key performance indicators (KPIs) for assigned risk programs 4. Stakeholder Collaboration - Work with internal partners (e.g., engineering, Legal) to address risk-related issues - Educate team members on risk and regulatory requirements - Contribute to the definition of program controls for relevant teams - Assist in managing relationships with external stakeholders 5. Project Support - Support product and service launches by assessing and mitigating risks - Manage schedules for assigned risk mitigation projects - Identify and help clear obstacles in project implementation - Contribute to post-launch support plans for controls 6. Communication and Training - Assist in developing and delivering risk management training - Communicate effectively about risk-related matters with various stakeholders - Contribute to program documentation and reporting 7. Continuous Improvement - Identify opportunities to enhance risk management processes - Recommend improvements to current controls or suggest new ones - Stay informed about industry trends and regulatory changes - Contribute to the ongoing development of risk management practices 8. Team Collaboration - Participate in team meetings and contribute to collective problem-solving - Assist in recruitment efforts by participating in interviews when needed 9. Technology Evaluation: - Continuously evaluate and assess emerging technologies, such as advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), and safety monitoring solutions, for potential adoption. - Act as a liaison with global tech teams, fostering collaboration. - Develop strategies for the integration of new technologies into Amazon's operations. Basic Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in Business, Risk Management, Finance, Engineering, or related field - Written and verbal communication skills, experience preparing and delivering presentations to various stakeholders. Experience effectively communicating complex risk concepts to non-technical audiences - Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word). Basic data analysis capabilities. - 2+ Years of Risk Management and the application of Risk Assessment and Mitigation Methodologies - 2+ Years of Risk and Hazard Identification Methodologies Preferred Qualifications - Demonstrated experience in risk assessment and mitigation methodologies - Understanding of regulatory compliance requirements and industry standards - Proficiency in data analysis and reporting tools - Experience with risk management frameworks and control testing - 2+ years of experience managing risk-related projects - Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple priorities - Experience in process improvement initiatives - Proven analytical and problem-solving capabilities - Experience working cross-functionally with multiple stakeholders - Demonstrated ability to work independently while knowing when to seek guidance - Strong organizational and documentation skills Amazon is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of protected veteran status, disability, or other legally protected status. The base pay for this position ranges from $66,800/year in our lowest geographic market up to $142,800/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
