R&D/Technology Manager

Your role and responsibilities

In this role, you will have the opportunity to contribute to ABB’s success with technology, software, product, and system development. Each day, you will identify and implement innovative solutions to relevant problems. You will also showcase your expertise by providing ideas and by being able to work both independently and as a part of a Research & Development (R&D) team.The work model for the role is: Onsite #LI-OnSiteThis role contributes to the ELSP (Smart Power) Business at our site in Apodaca, Nuevo Leon, or Ramos Arizpe, Coahuila, supporting the NEMA Enclosed Safety Switch Agile TEAM in the NAM Construction & Infrastructure (NAM C&I) Agile Unit. This position requires a high degree of flexibility, as well as strong analytical and interpersonal skills.You will be mainly accountable for:•\tWorking as an independent and reliable contributor in R&D projects with limited supervision.•\tPerforming various tasks in the assigned area (e.g., mechanics, electronics, thermal, software), from building concepts, gathering requirements to designing, implementing, integrating, testing, technology transfer or maintenance, and operations.•\tUnderstanding and applying applicable processes, standards, guidelines, and requirements, including architectural and design constraints.•\tDriving the achievement of assigned targets (quality, time, scope, cost) and raising and addressing risks.

Qualifications for the role

\tBachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, electrical power or similar with minimum of 2+ years of experience in development of products & its solutions in electrical distributions.\tExperience in manufacturing implementation of new and modified designs. \tExpertise in product and solution level testing desired and experience on working with Global test labs and Certification agency. \tExperience with design and product documentation, Creo and Windchill preferred.\tProven ability to analyze test data and solve design issues.\tExperience defining, designing, and integrating cost effective, compliant solutions.\tTrack record executing product design projects in teams and individually.\tExperience working with standards and standards compliance.\tExperience with Switches, Transfer switches, Automatic transfer switches, electrical panelboards, circuit breakers, or similar products or other Electro-Mechanical design and testing experience.\tExperience in testing, DoE, and data analysis.\tKnowledge of certification standards for electrical equipment (UL, IEC, IEEE).\tProven record of engineering analysis and design execution success.\tCertified in Lean Six Sigma.
