As part of the Product Safety team, which plays a pivotal role throughout the product lifecycle, you'll work within a group that combines proactive safety practices with reactive responsibilities, such as investigating fleet-related issues, analyzing incidents, and applying lessons learned to enhance safety standards.
 

As a Product Safety Engineer - Gas Tech Equipment, you will be responsible for:
 

Conducting thorough risk assessments to identify potential hazards and hazardous situations throughout the product lifecycle, as outlined in standards like ISO 12100.Evaluating risks in terms of severity, likelihood, and impact, guiding engineering design teams toward effective mitigation measures, including hazard elimination, safeguarding, Safety Integrity Level (SIL) assignment, and supplementary protective actions.Conducting Hazard and Operability Studies (HAZOP) to identify and assess risks related to process parameters, such as flow, pressure, and temperature, recommending targeted measures to enhance safetyApplying Quantitative Risk Assessment techniques, including Accident Scenario Reviews (ASR), to define robust mitigation strategies and systematically reduce risks.Collaborating closely with Project and Systems Engineers, the technical leads for Projects and Programs, to ensure seamless integration of safety principles and compliance throughout development and execution phases.Collaborating on the design and development of safety practices for both traditional turbomachinery and emerging technologies, such as hydrogen systems, CO2 capture technologies, and advanced energy systems - working with Customers, Suppliers, and Ventures.

To be successful in this role you will:
 

Master’s degree in engineering, preferably in Mechanical, Energy, Chemical, or Aeronautical disciplines.Have 3 years of experience as a Design Engineer or Product Safety Engineer, with the ability to interpret mechanical drawings, Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), and analysis/test reports.Be familiar with the 2006/42/CE Machinery Directive, including its application to product safety and compliance requirements.Have expertise in conducting Risk Assessments in accordance with ISO 12100 or equivalent standards, ensuring a systematic approach to hazard identification and risk mitigationHave experience in conducting Hazard and Operability Studies (HAZOP) and in applying Quantitative Risk Assessment techniques, including Accident Scenario Reviews (ASR) and Layers of Protection Analysis (LOPA)Be knowledgeable of turbomachinery products, including Gas/Steam turbines, Centrifugal/Reciprocating compressors, and Turboexpanders.
