What You'll Do:
Candidate will provide process engineering support for the daily operations of Acrylic Dispersions department (Building 437) at the Avon Lake site. The process engineering role interacts daily with the supervisors, operators and production staff, helping to coordinate all aspects of the chemical production process. The position reports directly to the Technical Supervisor.
What We're Looking For:
Overall efforts are directed towards improving/maintaining the production process to meet customer requirements for on-time delivery and product quality, minimize operating costs, and maintaining operational HS&E standards. Provide process troubleshooting and technical directions to manufacturing department – may involve interaction outside normal business hours as department runs 24/7. Ownership of batch charge sheets as well as DCS recipe parameters for all products. Configure minor changes to DCS as needed to continuously improve process. Monitor and implement ideas to maximize reactor utilization, product quality, batch cycle time, and equipment reliability. Track and report performance on a regular basis. Monitor product quality and report on process capability on a periodic basis. Manage off-spec materials to provide disposition to the appropriate personnel. Investigate customer complaints and provide appropriate response to the Quality department. Identify capital project improvement opportunities and work with the Engineering department to provide justification, develop scope, and provide start-up support for capital projects. Support the Process Safety Management program for the B437 process, including the MOC process, PHA participation and action item closure, maintenance of standard operating procedures, operator training and certification, and development of Process Safety Information. Provide technical guidance to maintain/improve all HS&E initiatives for the department. Collect data and generate environmental compliance reports. Work with Process Technology department to implement Manufacturing Authorizations as required for new products and raw material/process/equipment changes. Use and maintain systems associated with ISO9001 quality standards and cGMP standards, where applicable. Participate in incident investigations and root cause analysis to drive towards incident prevention and continual improvement.
Skills That Make a Difference:
B.S. Degree in Chemical Engineering with 2 - 10 years process engineering experience. Strong technical skills as displayed by: The ability to troubleshoot maintenance & process issues with equipment and unit operations. The ability to participate in process & equipment design. Familiarity with data analytics techniques and software Project management skills, including familiarity with the engineering and construction process. Strong communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly across multiple levels of an organization.

Knowledge of SAP. Programming experience with Delta V Experience with polymerization chemistry Lean Six Sigma certification
