We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Principal Engineer –Markets and Security Services (MSS), Digital IT.

The successful candidate will be expected to perform the following duties with a high level of competence:

The role is to lead and drive the use of technology in the delivery of products to external clients and internal staff. The role is to be the driving force in technology engineering by providing leadership and technical guidance to teams, to deliver excellent products to clients and internal staff. This role is pivotal to the success of the TD team, carrying it with a lot of influence within MSS IT and across the HSBC GroupThis is a hands-on role; we expect the candidate will be able to lead by example and have practical experience of building services and technical architecture to deliver digital solutions. A successful candidate will be expected to spend a large amount of time pairing with other developers and communicating not only through emails, meetings, etc but blogs, videos, talks and so on.A successful candidate will have a high degree of bias to action and will be able to demonstrate influence through code to large parts of an organization.

In this role, you will:

Creates innovative and simple engineering solutions to make the bank better, safer, faster.Evangelise the customer in every conversation and decision, be passionate about their needs and continually strive to improve their experience.Help to define and engineer the direction and strategy of holistic Digital solutions with the key sponsors that include the MSS Security Architect, the Head of TD and business product owners..Works with the product owners and other teams to ensure that business and technical requirements are understood, and teams are following best practice during implementation.Has an excellent understanding of technology in multiuple domains, using this knowledge to drive forward thinking solutions.Identifies risks and opportunities, both technical and business.Works with developers to improve their skills in building, simpler, faster, and cheaper services.Understands and promote the importance of supportability of solutions – availability, performance, monitoring and incident response.Takes accountability and ownership of solutions.
