We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Senior Consultant Specialist

In this role, you will:

• The job holder will be responsible for the technical delivery of projects, offering technical and process guidance to project teams, serving as a member of the Database Support team, and acting as a subject matter expert for the Oracle PostgreSQL.
• Provide expertise in database performance monitoring, tuning, and optimization to ensure efficient and reliable database operations.
• Manage and maintain high availability setups, replication configurations, and perform capacity planning and disaster recovery (DR) planning. Plan and execute backup and recovery strategies.
• Ensure adherence to delivery standards, including the quality of deliverables and proper documentation as per agreed service levels.
• Stabilize Oracle PostgreSQL environments while demonstrating ownership, commitment, and urgency in addressing issues and delivering solutions.
• Proactively review system performance and capacity in line with service level agreements (SLAs), identifying potential issues and recommending necessary changes. Collaborate with application teams to implement short- and medium-term adjustments to meet demand.
• Develop scripts and configure tools to automate database operations such as housekeeping and monitoring, capacity management, backup job scheduling and daily BAU work.
• Assess, analyze, develop, document, and implement changes based on change requests, ensuring a clear understanding of functional requirements and translating business needs into technical specifications.
• Provide incident troubleshooting support, perform root cause analysis, and implement measures to prevent recurrence, ensuring high-quality and sustainable solutions.

To be successful in this role, you should meet the following requirements:

Database Administration:Install, configure, and upgrade PostgreSQL database systems.Perform database migrations, backups, and recovery operations in Oracle and PostgreSQL.Strong Experience in database refreshes and Database Patching.Performance Tuning:Analyze and resolve performance bottlenecks in Oracle and PostgreSQL databases.Implement indexing, partitioning, and other optimization techniques.High Availability and Disaster Recovery:Design and implement high-availability solutions (e.g., Oracle RAC, PostgreSQL replication).Develop and test disaster recovery plans.Security and CompliancEnsure database security by implementing access controls, encryption, and auditing.Maintain compliance with organizational and regulatory standards.Automation and Scripting:Develop scripts for database automation tasksUse tools like Ansible, Shell scripting, or Python for automation.Collaboration:Work closely with application developers to design efficient database schemas.Provide support for database-related issues in development, testing, and production environments.Documentation:Maintain detailed documentation of database configurations, processes, and procedures.Required Skills and Qualifications:Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.Experience8 years of experience as an Oracle DBA.4 years of experience as a PostgreSQL DBA.Technical Expertise:Strong knowledge of Oracle Database (12c, 19c) and PostgreSQL (12.x or later).Proficiency in SQL, PL/SQL, and PostgreSQL procedural languages.Experience with Oracle RAC, Data Guard, OGG, and ASM.Experience with PostgreSQL replication, logical replication, and failover mechanisms.Hands-on experience with database migration tools (e.g., Oracle GoldenGate, pg_dump, pg_upgrade).Good knowledge of Windows and Unix platforms, monitoring tools, job scheduling (Control-M) and storage (SAN).Knowledge in Automation Tools such as Rundeck, Ansible and Jenkins is preferred.Tools:Familiarity with database monitoring tools (e.g., OEM pgAdmin).Experience with cloud platforms (AWS RDS, Azure, or GCP) for Oracle and PostgreSQL.Soft Skills:Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.Preferred Qualifications:Experience with database migration from Oracle to PostgreSQL.Knowledge of NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB) is a plus.Certifications:Oracle Certified Professional (OCP).PostgreSQL Certified Professional.
