New Product Development Engineer

Role Summary:


Plans, directs, and coordinates manufacturing processes involving machining, assembly, and testing. Develops, evaluates, and improves manufacturing methods, utilizing knowledge of product design, materials and parts, fabrication processes, tooling, and production. Analyzes and improves quality, cost, and delivery by using Lean and Six Sigma tools. Provides engineering support in production departments by trouble shooting and resolving technical issues.

Work hours: Monday to Friday from 8 am to 4 pm.

Location: Kalamazoo, MI.


Responsibilities:

Investigate project/capital equipment proposals, develop justification, prepare requests for expenditure, acquire and install equipment, and ensure that justification goals are achieved.

Partner with Manufacturing Supervisors to achieve Flowserve goals and objectives.

Specify and acquire factory supplies that reduce costs and improve effectiveness.

Ensure availability of CNC programs to support new products and customer requirements.

Assist with training, instruction, and development of a flexible operator CNC programming and tooling skill base.

Ensure tooling and fixtures are available to support customer demand.

Troubleshoot processes and equipment to minimize production schedule delays.

Assist with the development of the profit plan and manufacturing strategic plan. Track assigned capital projects and expenditures to ensure timely completion within budget.

Stay informed on new developments in machine tools, tooling, and methods. Recommend innovative solutions to improve throughput and quality.

Support company objectives and perform other duties as delegated by management.

Enforce safety rules, ensuring that tooling, fixtures, and processes comply with OSHA regulations.

Enforce Flowserve’s environmental policies and ensure subcontractors adhere to them.

Demonstrate strong teamwork and collaboration.

Treat all customers and employees with respect.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

BS or BA Degree in relevant field and 5-7 years of relevant experience

Proven track record of leading and driving cost reductions in a manufacturing environment utilizing Continuous Improvement Methodologies.

Experience in a manufacturing environment.


Preferred Experience / Skills:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, engineering drawings, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures.

Ability to write routine and technical correspondence.

Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.

Ability to comprehend and apply principles of advanced geometry, trigonometry, modern algebra, and advanced statistical theory.

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
