We are looking for a Machine Learning Expert to be hired with a permanent contract within the Siemens Mobility Innovation Centre for Optimization & AI within the Software Business Unit.
The Innovation Centre for Optimization & AI at Siemens Mobility advances mobility technology through research and development in the fields of Optimization & AI, with a particular focus on the Train Planning Systems (TPS) business segment.

Your ChallengeAs a Machine Learning Expert, your mission will be to develop and implement advanced machine learning models and algorithms to enhance the efficiency of transportation systems, with a primary involvement in Rail.
Your main activities will be: Designing and developing machine learning models for different predictive, planning and decision-making problems, including predictive maintenance, anomaly detection, scheduling, routing and resource assignment Collaborating with cross-functional teams to integrate machine learning solutions and components into existing Siemens software. Analyzing large datasets to extract actionable insights and improve decision-making processes. Conducting research and staying up-to-date with the latest advancements in machine learning and artificial intelligence. Providing technical guidance and mentorship to junior team members.To be a perfect fit for this role, you would have:
A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in machine learning, with a strong background in developing and deploying ML models. Expertise in deep learning techniques, including convolutional neural networks (CNNs), recurrent neural networks (RNNs), and transformers. Expertise in deep reinforcement learning, including policy gradient methods, Q-learning, and multi-agent systems. Proven experience in applying machine learning techniques in the mobility sector, particularly in rail systems. Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, or Java. Experience with machine learning frameworks and libraries (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn). Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication and teamwork abilities. Passion to never-stop growing. Respect and appreciation of each person’s uniqueness, willingness to co-create and share knowledge. Proficiency in English. Eligibility to work in Italy.
