Overview
Mastercard is seeking a Lead Software Engineer (Front-End) to help shape the future of payment technologies. In this role, you will drive the development of cutting-edge applications that are transforming the way payments are made. We're looking for a passionate engineer who is customer-obsessed, deeply analytical, and thrives in fast-paced environments. Role
•\tAct as a hands-on developer, writing high-quality, secure, modular, and
testable front-end code.
•\tLead the design, implementation, and successful delivery of complex
engineering initiatives within the program.
•\tEvaluate, introduce, and deploy emerging technologies to optimize
performance, scalability, and maintainability.
•\tArchitect and maintain technical roadmaps while mentoring development
teams on best practices and new technology adoption.
•\tContribute across the full software development lifecycle—including
architecture, coding, testing, documentation, and deployment.
•\tTake full ownership of your team’s software, with deep understanding of its
runtime behavior, dependencies, and infrastructure, including operating
systems and build processes.
•\t Collaborate effectively with global teams through clear communication and
cross-functional engagement.

All About You
•\tStrong foundation in algorithms, data structures, and core computer
science principles.
•\tProven experience with object-oriented programming and software design
patterns.
•\tProficiency in multiple modern front-end and full-stack technologies such
as React, Vue, Node.js, JavaScript, TypeScript, Angular, and Scala.
•\tExceptional written and verbal communication skills in English.
•\tStrong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
•\tHands-on experience in Agile software development environments.
•\tFamiliarity with Extreme Programming (XP), Test-Driven Development
(TDD), and Behavior-Driven Development (BDD) methodologies.
•\tExpertise in cloud technologies including IaaS, PaaS, serverless
architectures, and NoSQL databases.
•\tSkilled in microservices architecture, CI/CD pipelines, and DevOps
practices.
•\tExperience designing scalable, fault-tolerant platforms resilient to
infrastructure-level failures.
•\tPractical experience using strangulation patterns and anti-corruption layers
to refactor and migrate monolithic systems into decoupled services.
•\tDeep understanding of modern software engineering principles such as
SOLID, DRY, and Single Responsibility Principle (SRP).
•\tBachelor’s degree in computer science or a related technical field.

In line with Mastercard’s total compensation philosophy and assuming that the job will be performed in the US, the successful candidate will be offered a competitive base salary based on location, experience and other qualifications for the role and may be eligible for an annual bonus or commissions depending on the role. Pay Ranges

New York City, New York: $166,000 - $265,000 USD
