**Job Description** **:**
We are seeking an experienced and proactive Employment Counsel to join our in-house legal team. You will report to our Assistant General Counsel and partner with our VP-HR, working closely with our Human Resources team to provide legal advice on a range of employment law matters. This role will be responsible for managing legal matters related to employment and labor law across the company **.**
**Must be based in the United States.**
**Responsibilities** **:**
+ Advise on all aspects of employment law including hiring practices, wage and hour compliance, employee classification, workplace policies, investigations, accommodations, leaves of absence, and disciplinary actions.
+ Draft and review employment-related documents including offer letters, employment agreements, separation agreements, and employee handbooks.
+ Advise on and participate in internal investigations into employee complaints, misconduct, or policy violations.
+ Represent or manage representation in employment-related disputes, including agency actions, administrative claims, mediation, and litigation.
+ Collaborate with HR and other members of Legal to develop and deliver training programs on employment law compliance, respectful workplace behavior, and other key topics.
+ Monitor and communicate changes in federal, state, and local labor and employment laws and regulations, ensuring compliance across all jurisdictions in which the company operates.
+ Advise on labor and employment issues in connection with separations and reductions in force.
+ Manage relationships with outside counsel on employment matters.
+ Work directly with business units and people managers at all levels of the company to advise regarding employment-related issues.
+ Advise on labor and employment issues in existing and proposed customer contracts.
+ Employee disputes
+ Employee litigation
+ Other projects and assignments may result and be assigned to accommodate the changing needs of the department and the company.
**Skills & Qualifications:**
+ Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
+ Active license to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
+ Minimum of 5-7 years of legal experience with a strong focus on labor and employment law.
+ In-depth knowledge of federal and state employment laws, including but not limited to Title VII, FMLA, ADA, ADEA, FLSA, and NLRA.
+ Proven ability to balance legal risk with practical business needs
+ Ability to explain legal issues and provide actionable advice to employees at all levels of the organization and in US and international jurisdictions.
+ Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships across departments and levels.
**Preferred Qualifications**
+ Experience in a multinational employer environment.
+ Experience in Canadian labor and employment highly preferred.
+ Familiarity with labor relations and union negotiations if applicable.
+ Comfort working in both strategic and hands-on roles.
**Wage Range** **:**
The annual starting salary for this position is between $112,500 – $165,000 annually. Factors which may affect starting pay within this range may include geography/market, skills, education, experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
