Investment Management Analyst

We are seeking a talented individual to join our Portfolio Managment Team at Mercer. This role can be based at either our Dublin or London office. This is a hybrid role that has a requirement of working at least three days a week in the office.

We are excited to offer an opportunity to join the Portfolio Management Team within Mercer’s Investment Solutions business, focusing on our bespoke solutions for our largest institutional clients. These solutions encompass client-specific multi-asset return-seeking portfolios to liability matching & risk management overlays. This role presents an excellent opportunity for individuals eager to deepen their investment management knowledge and embrace the challenge of designing and managing investment solutions for some of the world’s largest institutional investors.

The successful candidate will receive comprehensive training on Mercer’s solutions and capabilities from peers and management, enabling them to contribute meaningfully to the team’s future development. Long-term, there is potential for growth into a Portfolio Management role or other senior investment positions.

We will count on you to:

Collaborate with Portfolio Managers to design and implement a diverse range of client investment solutions for our largest clients: integrating active and passive strategies across multiple asset classes to meet return-seeking, liability matching, risk management, and ESG requirements.Support Portfolio Managers in managing investment solutions, including manager selection and portfolio construction.Participate in performance and due diligence meetings with incumbent investment managers.Maintain up-to-date knowledge of markets, benchmarks, and strategies.Assist in transitions to fund new client solutions and implement portfolio changes.Analyse performance measurement and risk management for client portfolios and underlying sub-investment managers.Coordinate with Client Relationship teams to ensure accurate and timely reporting of investment and portfolio data, as well as strategy and performance commentary for factsheets and client reports.Liaise closely with all members of Mercer’s Investment teams (Portfolio Management, Risk, Strategy, Portfolio Insights, ) and manager research teams to develop and deliver optimal solutions for clients.Collaborate with key internal stakeholders, including Mercer’s Investment, Operations, Legal, and Compliance teams, to oversee the implementation of client solutions and foster cross-business relationships.

What you need to have:Approximately 3 or more years of experience in an investment environment (e.g., investment consulting or asset/investment management).Understanding of institutional investors’ strategies.Exposure to the manager research process and transitions is desirable.Familiarity with investment guidelines and associated legal documentation.Strong relationship-building skills to foster collaboration and gain buy-in from key stakeholders.Excellent numerical, analytical, and spreadsheet skills.Strong written and verbal communication skills, with experience in investment writing (e.g., market commentaries or investment reports) preferred.Solid understanding of investments and related issues.Ability to work effectively within a small, dynamic team while managing individual tasks and projects.High attention to detail with an understanding of its relevance to the broader context.Strong analytical skills to review and assess information/situations, identify issues, and propose solutions.Degree qualified, with a strong undergraduate degree in Accounting, Actuarial Studies, Business, Economics, Engineering, Mathematics, Science, or a related discipline.
