R&D Team Lead

Your role and responsibilities

In this role, you will have the opportunity to gain vocational experience through a temporary work placement (6 months). Each day, you will acquire knowledge by performing tasks as directed. You will also showcase your expertise by supporting ABB’s operations and enhancing personal education/employment opportunities. During this internship, you will have an opportunity to work on different aspects of a hydrogen sensing system for equipment safety. The focus is on optoelectronics, spectroscopy and sensor technology. You will work with state-of-the-art hydrogen sensing technologies for high-demand industrial applications. The work model for the role is: hybrid #LI-Hybrid This role is contributing to the Sensing and Analytics Research Team in Baden-Dättwil, Aargau, Switzerland. Main stakeholder is the Analytical Spectroscopy Business Unit in Quebec (Canada). You will be mainly accountable for:• Building and operation of optical and electrical sensor testing setup in laboratory• Developing testing automation protocol (e.g: LabView platform)• Data collection, analysis and interpretation of results• Review of academic literature• Regular reporting and contribution to decision-making in elaboration of potential solutions

Qualifications for the role

You currently pursue a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree (enrollment to 5th semester or higher is essential) in Electrical Engineering or Material Science You are interested in at least one of the following fields: optics, optoelectronics, sensor technology, spectroscopy, data analysis You have experience with LabView and/or PythonYou are willing to learn and quickly adapt to new research topics You are self-motivated, have a hands-on attitude and you are able to think conceptually and express ideas clearly and convincingly You are at ease communicating in English Non-EU/non-EFTA citizens, please note that a certificate from your university, showing that an internship is a mandatory part of your studies, is required for the visa application
