Job Description

Onsite: This role is categorized as onsite. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Tonawanda on a full-time basis.

The Role:

Industrial Engineer will work directly with Production leadership in implementing Lean Manufacturing systems. The main purpose of the Industrial Engineer is to work to eliminate waste of time, money, materials, person-hours, machine time, energy and other resources that do not generate value. The ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced manufacturing environment is critical to succeed in this role.

What You'll Do (Responsibilities):

Implement common Industrial Engineering business practices and processesDesign work operations that meet safety, quality, and efficiency requirements with high integrityMaintain accurate time studies through motion analysis and application of standard time dataMaintain accurate routings of parts to their assembly locationMaintain accurate workstation layouts using computer aided drafting software (AutoCAD)Drive Continuous Improvement efforts in assigned area through elimination of wasteEvaluate bottleneck areas and support throughput and productivity improvements in assigned areaSupport change management projects by developing line balance plans and participating in production trialsReduce total cost by improving productivity metrics related to operator work loading and value-added percentParticipate in lean manufacturing through implementation of GM’s Global Manufacturing SystemSupport implementation and training for standardized work developmentBecome a coach and teacher of lean manufacturing principles to the production floor team membersDrive problem solving effortsWork collaboratively as one team with all levels of the organization Develop relationships with Production department and related personnel

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications):

Bachelor’s degree in the field of Engineering (or equivalent) AND 2 years of Industrial Engineering experienceExperience working in manufacturing with a background in Continuous ImprovementExperience in documentation of Standardized Work procedures Experience in implementation of Lean Manufacturing conceptsKnowledge of time study and motion analysis Working knowledge of computer aided drafting tools (AutoCAD / SolidWorks / Line Designer) Ability to adapt to different interpersonal styles and communication methods Self-motivated individual with Continuous Improvement focusAbility to work any shift, OT and weekend shifts

What Will Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications):

Knowledge of human factors engineering / ergonomic analysis Previous experience with project management and time managementPrevious experience working in a Union Environment or Bargaining Unit

Compensation:

The expected base compensation for this role is: $68,900.00 - $105,700.00. Actual base compensation within the identified range will vary based on factors relevant to the position.Bonus Potential: An incentive pay program offers payouts based on company performance, job level, and individual performance.
