This includes maintaining and reviewing the patent and 3D design strategy of the business, as well as enhancing the value of the patent and 3D design assets and ensuring the freedom of the Company to market their current and/or new product lines. The role includes responsibility for all patents and 3D design matters, including invention harvesting, drafting, prosecution, registration, clearances, validity opinions, agreements, licensing, managing external counsel, oppositions and appeals. **Your responsibilities** In summary: + Ability to confidently articulate patent matters to senior leaders within the Company. + Developing, evaluating and improving processes and systems for executing the Company patent and 3D designs strategy globally. + Lead a patent team. + Effective budget management. + Proven experience of: + Drafting and Prosecution of patent applications: multijurisdictional experience + Opposition and appeal proceedings (EP) + 3D design registration + Management of external counsels + Independent patent/design risk assessments / FTO opinions + Mediation and/or litigation + Licensing + Review of IP provisions in agreements with 3rd parties + IP strategy support, including IP enforcement strategy + M&A support, in particular evaluating and advising on 3rd party IP portfolio in light of Mead Johnson Nutrition business. + Presentation to senior management + Portfolio management: ability to appropriately manage the portfolio to balance cost and commercial relevance whilst providing a commercial strategic advantage to the business + Providing Patent and Design training **The experience we're looking for** + Proven Management of complex patent matters, typically spanning multiple jurisdictions. + Good academic results. + Professionally qualified US Patent Attorney (EP qualified will be considered for the right candidate). + Relevant work experience gained within private practice and/or in-house. + Working knowledge of legal systems of other jurisdictions, relevant to Mead Johnson Nutrition. + The ability to see the wider commercial picture and work effectively in a team environment. **The skills for success** Integrity, Corporate Governance, Compliance Management, Solutions Focused, Excellent Communication Skills, Risk management, Intellectual property, Patents, Commercial contracts, Marketing, Teamwork, Fact-based Decision Making, Ability to manage and prioritize workload, Continuous Improvement Mindset, Legal Services, Process Optimisation. **What we offer** With inclusion at the heart of everything we do, working alongside our four global Employee Resource Groups, we support our people at every step of their career journey, helping them to succeed in their own individual way.
