Head of Compliance - Mercer Super

We are seeking a talented individual to join our Risk and Compliance team at Mercer Super. This role will be based in Australia. This is a hybrid role that has a requirement of working at least three days a week in the office.

Reporting to the Chief Risk Officer for Mercer Super, the Head of Compliance, Mercer Super is a key leadership role responsible for navigating the complexities of regulatory landscapes and ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations. Among other things this position involves overseeing the breach assessment process, ensuring the obligations library is fit for purpose, and acting as the Conflicts Officer for Mercer Super.

This is a critical leadership role in the Line 2 Mercer Super risk team. Experience in the superannuation sector is a must. We would prefer previous leadership experience but are open to application from exceptional individuals looking for their first leadership opportunity. Most important is your strong risk and compliance knowledge, resilience, ability to manage change, and preparedness to engage in challenging conversations in a way that is constructive and prioritises the interests of members.

We will count on you to:

Lead, mentor, and develop the Compliance team, promoting a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.Set standards in both your conduct and work that role model our expectations for what compliance management looks like at a best in class fund.Provide expert compliance advisory services and support to Line 1 business units, ensuring effective management of compliance and regulatory risks.Oversight the obligations register in the GRC system, ensuring it is comprehensive and fit for purpose.Lead the review of incidents and breach assessments, working closely with MMC colleagues to raise incidents that are of concern.Cultivate strong relationships with key stakeholders, preparing and presenting compliance plans and updates to senior management and relevant committees.

What you need to have:

Tertiary qualifications in a business-related discipline.Extensive experience in a compliance or legal function within the financial services industry, preferably in superannuation.2-3 years of experience in a similar compliance role with a proven track record in managing compliance initiatives.Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively convey compliance requirements.
