The Group Lending Manager reports directly to the Chief Operations Officer (COO). The Group Lending Manager is responsible for driving the operational excellence, credit quality, financial performance, and strategic execution of VisionFund Kenya’s group lending program across multiple branches. This role ensures the consistent delivery of impactful financial services to underserved communities, especially women and youth, through effective team leadership, compliance oversight, digital transformation, and strong partnership engagement.
Key Responsibilities
Credit Risk & Operational Compliance
Implement and monitor credit risk policies and internal controls.Ensure compliance with audits, fraud reporting, and regulatory standards.Maintain strong portfolio quality and timely loan disbursements.Leadership & People Development
Coach and mentor branch managers and staff.Build high-performing teams and ensure HR compliance.Support staff retention, succession planning, and wellness initiatives.Business Performance & Financial Growth
Lead group lending to meet financial and client growth targets.Enhance client acquisition, especially among underserved populations.Ensure high collection rates and portfolio quality.Digital Tools Utilization
Promote use of digital systems for lending and collections.Train staff and clients on digital tools.Track and improve efficiency through digital adoption.Strategic Planning & Partnerships
Drive local business plans and branch-level growth strategies.Build partnerships with community groups and development stakeholders.Customer Experience & Responsible Lending

Educational Requirements:
Degree in Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or related field.Minimum 5 years’ experience in microfinance or retail banking operations.Experience in driving Group/ solidarity lending will be an added advantageKey Competencies:
In-depth knowledge of MFI industry practices, and current trends in microfinance.Strong leadership capabilities with a proven track record of driving performance and motivating teams.Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills; adept at business development and stakeholder management.High ethical standards and commitment to personal and organizational integrity.He/she should have proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel), and familiarity with accounting software (e.g. QuickBooks, SAP).Strong analytical and problem-solving skills or abilities.Capability and willingness to take responsibility and highly developed sense of rectitudeReady to comply and live up to and in accordance with the organization's Ideals and Core ValuesApplication Instructions
