The gearbox tools and analysis engineer will support new product development in the onshore wind application space. In this position, you will be the gearbox loads focal point and own the gearbox load assessment for NPI programs. You will own multiple gearbox analysis tools, including the mechanical load assessment tools, vibration analysis tool, drivetrain torsional vibration analysis tool and others to support the design verifications, and quality control of gearboxes in various platforms.
Essential Responsibilities
Work with the design owners and suppliers to understand the gearbox design characteristics to support integrating them successfully into the wind turbine.Be the gearbox loads focal point and own the gearbox load path interpretationCollaborate with design teams across platforms to standardize the gearbox loads and controlsOwn the loads assessment and the tools, develop new algorithms and maintain and optimize the algorithms to improve the tool functionality and implement the tool validationStreamline the tools across the platforms for the common design features; allow the tool variance for special design feature in a specific platformOwn drivetrain torsional analysis and the tools, to support design reviews and type certification, and risk analysisOwn the gearbox vibration analysis tool, set up the vibration limits for the end of line test of the serial production gearboxes for quality control.Own vibration data analysis for the prototype turbine validation testCollaborate with the software company for tool development & maintenanceImplement data analytics to help gearbox field performanceBasic qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in mechanical Engineering, or related discipline from accredited universityExperience in engineering analysis tool developmentStrong oral and written communication skillsDesired characteristics
Experience in gearbox design, with gear design or bearing design, or structure design as an advantageExperience in dynamics and vibrations as an advantageExperience in data analyticsMaster’s degree in mechanical engineering or related disciplineExperience in using Matlab, Python, Excel Macro as program languageAdditional InformationRelocation Assistance Provided: Yes
