Purpose of the Job:

The front of house manager will be responsible for overseeing all operations at the Durbanville Hills Tasting room and Olive Grove Bistro. The main priority for the Front of House manager is the customer and consumer experience. They shape the overall guest experience.

Key responsibilities:

·       Plan menus and manage food costs to agreed levels 

·       Drive the promotion and sales of destination offerings, experiences, and product.  

·       Develop and implement initiatives to drive D2C revenue for the brand home. 

·       Innovation and improvement results – continuously drive innovation ideas. 

·       Manage day-to-day execution of the CRM strategy, drive database and wine club sign ups together with the brand team.

·       Ensure brand home total P&L target achieved.  

·       Active involvement (together with the destination manager) in compiling and managing of Opex and CAPEX budgets, forecast and target setting.  

·       Implementation of the Integrated Brand home consumer engagement plan.

·       Drive efficiencies and maintain operational excellence by Ensuring cost effective resources are utilized.

·       Strive to minimize stock and cash losses. 

·       Managing, processing and dispatching of online wine orders and wine orders made in the tasting room that need to be shipped.

·       Creating STOs for weekly wine orders to ensure sufficient stock at the brand home to service the tasting room, the Olive Grove and the Tangram restaurant.

·       Control daily banking and cash floats; responsible for capturing and processing of the weekly sales, staff orders and promo liquor orders on SAP.

·       Responsible for general administration and procurement support. 

·       Manage sourcing and purchasing of appropriate merchandise and food offerings. 

·       Manage staff roster for service, kitchen and housekeeping staff for optimal service delivery and cost effectiveness. 

·       Manage all aspects of the Durbanville Hills guest experience – Tasting Room and Olive Grove Bistro.

·       Responsible for Consumer and Corporate VIP satisfaction of the Brand Home experience. 

·       Ensure customer/consumer service excellence at all times. 

·       Responsible for training all FOH staff on service excellence, food and beverage management, sales skills.

·       Responsible for the management of staff and consumer experience to ensure a world class guest experience. 

 

Education & Experience:

·       A relevant Tourism, hospitality or eventing qualification.

·       Wine knowledge and qualification: CWA Certificate/WSET 2

·       Suitable Tourism, hospitality, or eventing experience.

·       Highly organised. Experience managing multiple priorities and changing environment. 

·       Understanding of, and experience in the hospitality and events industry, preferably in a premium wine environment. 

·       Proven track record delivering results against defined targets. 

·       Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Pilot and CRM platforms. 

·       Strong customer service and sales aptitude.
