The CoE Interior Wall Paint (IWP) Team is seeking a talented Development Chemist to join our Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Amsterdam. The CoE Interior Wall Paint (IWP) Team is a part of a leading R&D department within the SBU Architectural Coatings EMEA for the product segment wall coatings. These products are intended for the strongest market of PPG in Architectural Coatings for EMEA.

More about the Role:

In this position, you will be part of an experienced team of paint technicians and will manage your own projects in accordance with the agreed timelines. You will be responsible for developing new products and scouting and conducting test drills on the latest technologies for Interior Wall Paints. The ideal candidate will have a strong research mindset, analytical skills, and excellent communication and reporting abilities.

Key Responsibilities:

Product Development: Conduct the development of innovative new products, ensuring they meet performance and quality standards.

Test Drills: Conduct and oversee test drills to evaluate product performance under various conditions.

Research and Analysis: Apply analytical skills to solve complex problems and improve product formulations.

Communication: Effectively communicate research findings and progress to stakeholders through detailed reports and presentations.

Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams in an international environment to drive project success.

Patents and Legislation: Stay informed about patents and legislative issues relevant to the coatings industry.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemistry, Polymer/Material Science, or Coatings.

Preferably 2-3 years of relevant work experience, including formulating experience in the chemical industry.

Proficiency in MS Office; experience with Design of Experiments (DoE) is a plus.

Research mindset, analytical skills, and interest in state-of-the-art coating technologies.

Organizational skills, practical and result-oriented attitude, and innovative thinking combined with a can-do attitude.

Good command of the English language, with good communication skills both verbal and written.

Ability to operate autonomously while also being an efficient team player. Interest in patents and/or legislative issues.
