CORE REMOVAL PROCESS OWNER

Basic Qualifications:

BS in Engineering from an accredited institution.​Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

Preferred Qualifications:

BS in Materials Science, Metallurgical, Electrical, Mechanical, Ceramic, or Chemical Engineering from an accredited institutionExperience in Investment Casting.Knowledge of vacuum systems, PLCKnowledge of MS Office, excellent written and oral communication skills, able to work in a self-directed or team environment and have good organization skills.Working knowledge of statistical analysis and SPCKnowledge of Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, and Arconic Process Management a plus.Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities

This Core Removal Process Owner position will be located across our Plants 1, 3, and 10 - Whitehall Casting Operation.
 

Job Roles

Continuous Improvement-- Using six sigma methodology, Process Management, and SPC to reduce variation and improve capability. Relationship and Communication--connect individually and with teams across process areas and leadership levels; build rapport and commonality; create a “win together” ethic; give and receive feedback, take action accordingly.Data Informed-- focused on things that drive quantifiable business outcomes; evaluates based on quantitative feedback; knows and explains the relationship between actions and expected resultsLeader-- a Self-starter, manage time effectively, and meet deliverable deadlines.Ownership-- Core Removal is your area.  Study the processes to make them safer, reduce scrap, improve labor utilization, and reduce cost.  (i.e.: audit processes, track key variables, talk to the experts (operators)). Evaluate and document process changes, obtaining customer or engineering approval when required. Catalyst-- Monitor daily metrics, work to reduce scrap by going after “top hitters”. Walk and audit the processes to determine point of cause.  Ensure that you can recreate the defect and use cross functional team if needed to implement actions to eliminate the defect.

Job Responsibilities

Drive standardization and Process Management using scientific methods and six sigma tools to define the post cast process, develop reaction plans, and reduce cost.Close the communication loop between rework, scrap, and engineering along with the source of the problem to drive resolution and reduce cost.Ensure development and implementation of new materials and finishing techniques are rooted in six sigma methodology to meet the testing and equipment requirements per BU Manuals.Assure meeting of the Core Removal process MSAT per the BU Manual.Assure compliance to Customer and NADCAP requirements in the Core Removal areas.Act as a conduit between Engineering and Manufacturing to assure that the Alloy and Core Removal Processes are compliant with the methods, materials, and equipment specifications as required by the BU Manuals, business operating, and customer requirements.Coordinate and plan projects and resources with new vendors and customers.Write capital requests, purchasing engineering materials, manage cost and control budgets for specific post cast projects and objectives.Communicate with other plants on cost savings and scrap reduction projects in Core Removal.Update Product Criteria and Activity Instructions as required. Approve all new and revised instructions for the Core Removal Area.Coordinate operator training as required.
