The Category Advisor is a critical member of our sales organization that is able to distill insights from a variety of data sources to develop business plans that drive category and Kraft Heinz volume. This position leads all activities relating to optimizing assortment and space management for assigned categories and customers by using a broad set of analytical tools.
We are looking for a team member who will be the expert on key Kraft Heinz categories, customers’ shoppers, insight development, efficient assortment, and optimal shelf placement. The Category Advisor finds opportunities and addresses both Kraft’s and the customer’s needs through the integration of research (primary and secondary), analysis, insights, reporting and presentation. This person will apply and integrate buying dynamics such as purchase frequency, buy rate, buyer conversion and category leakage to consumer and shopper research to develop business-building recommendations. This team member will conduct assortment analysis, SKU optimization, and build planograms by using syndicated tools. The Category Leadership Advisor specifically supports Walmart.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities
Implement shelving principles and standards
Identify root causes of customer issues and opportunities and deliver compelling stories to drive action to address
Draw key insights and business recommendations on distribution, assortment, pricing, and promotion by analysis of syndicated data (scanner, HH panel, Spectra, etc.)
Develop and integrate consumer, shopper, and retailer insights to better advise targeted strategies, plans and decisions
Use insight resources to prioritize consumer and shopper needs and opportunities
Integrate data to develop impactful customer-specific selling stories in support of key category business building initiatives.
Liaison to internal/external supply chain regarding efficient assortment
Lead broader space initiatives across aisle and store
Understand and apply best-practice category management process
Partner with Customer Business Leads in the development of insight-based new item presentations
Apply the full suite of tools against business issues >> expand and add detail on this depending on role/team
Conduct training of customer teams to broaden their understanding of sales information and tools available for business tracking and analysis
Build connections and inroads with Walmart merchant teams
Category Leadership representative in strategic customer meetings and interaction, e.g., JVP meetings
Develop impactful customer-specific category development recommendations in support of key business building initiatives
Required Skills
Analysis & Insights – Able to develop insights and conclusions based on an analysis of information and research, which serves as the basis for decision-making, strategy creation and initiatives/solutions
Story Telling – Able to develop and present compelling, data-based stories that engage, influence and drive action
Technical Proficiency – Mastery of basic data software tools (MS Excel, Access, PowerPoint, etc.) with the ability to quickly and independently learn new tools
Project Management – Able to work against a timeline while anticipating needs, organizing resources and prioritizing tasks; focuses energy on planning and prioritizing workload along with leveraging available resources
Ideal Candidate Experience
Applicable experience in consumer-packaged goods industry
Experience in Category Leadership working with Walmart
Strong industry and sales knowledge with an emphasis on category and space management
Demonstrated syndicated and panel data knowledge, and space management software skills

New Hire Base Salary Range:
$102,100.00 – $127,600.00
Bonus: This position is eligible for a performance-based bonus as provided by the plan terms and governing documents.
The compensation offered will take into account internal equity and may vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors
