Job Description

 

As a Buy Part Engineer, you will act as a key interface between our client and its suppliers for stamped sheet metal parts and welded sub-assemblies. From sourcing to the start of serial production, you will ensure that suppliers meet technical, quality, cost, and delivery expectations.

Main duties :

          1. Manage, on behalf of our client, suppliers of stamped sheet metal parts and welded sub-assemblies, from the sourcing phase until ramp-up approval (Start of serial production).

          2. Analyze supplier's offer, evaluating aspects such as feasibility, processes, scheduling, and quality…, and provide detailed recommendations to the project team to aid supplier selection.

          3. Participate in product/process convergence by ensuring process robustness (Analyzing stamping cycle / Optimizing percentage of material utilization) and product feasibility (Material compliance / Analyzing simulation  reports (draw ability, edge cracking, spring back)/Analyzing 3D Tolerance, etc.).

          4. Provide suppliers with customer data, including updated planning, 3D CAD data, 3D tolerances, and various  customer requirements such as part marking, burr direction, quality targets…

          5. Analyze and negotiate supplier quotations for new part price and tooling cost (validation threshold set at 50,000  euros) in case of product modification.

          6. Supervise manufacturing trials for stamping tools and assembly equipment, ensuring suppliers' commitment to  deliver parts on time while meeting quality targets.

         7.Control the production of different product batches while analyzing measurement reports and define the action plans to decrease return rates due to defects.

         8. Validate supplier action plans and MAP activities on the tooling to achieve quality compliance.

Manage APQP grids, ensuring supplier deliverables compliance with customer requirements.

         9.Ensures the conformity of capability measurement reports and advises the SQME (supplier quality manufacturing  engineering) of the schedule of approved parts to be transferred to serial production.

 

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

Engineering degree (Mechanical/Industrial/Automotive or equivalent).

This position is open to recent graduates; no prior professional experience is required.

Strong understanding of stamping processes and tooling.

Familiarity with CAD tools and simulation interpretation.

Knowledge of APQP, PPAP, and quality management systems.

Negotiation and analytical skills.

Fluent in English and French.
