This role offers a step up for those currently at Senior Planner level, who have developed experience of managing projects, providing clear, commercially sound advice to clients/colleagues and are looking to build their own client base. You will be supported by an established team, that is also seeking to hire a Planner / Senior Planner to support. Our Midlands and South West team covers a broad geography, extending across the Midlands, South West and Wales, working with colleagues in Bristol, Southampton, and Oxford. The team is based in Birmingham city centre. Our team works on a variety of development management, strategic planning advisory, development promotion, infrastructure, economic development, regeneration, employment land, business case / funding and estate strategy projects. We currently advise on several high-profile large-scale planning projects, regeneration frameworks and masterplans led by private and public sector clients throughout the UK including several projects in Birmingham city centre. You will be given the opportunity to work across the full range of development types, including residential, urban mixed use, commercial, industrial and logistics, education, healthcare, public sector, and infrastructure (primarily rail, airports and energy) development in a variety of brownfield and greenfield contexts. We work collaboratively on projects across the national planning teams and across CBRE service lines, drawing on specialisms as projects require, providing a unique opportunity to develop a range of skills, working on a diverse portfolio of projects with planners and other specialist teams across the UK. Further details on the CBRE Planning team can be found at www.cbre.co.uk/planning Key Responsibilities ‒Provision of planning advice to public and private sector clients across all sectors / land uses in a range of brownfield and greenfield contexts. ‒Preparing fee proposals and scopes of work / co-ordinating tender responses for public and private sector planning consultancy projects. ‒Acting as day-to-day project lead in preparing strategic and major applications or planning / regeneration strategies, working alongside and supported by the lead Director. ‒Preparation of Planning Appraisals, Local Plan Representations, Statements and Evidence documents, as appropriate, including analysis of planning policy and assessment of client proposals both against policy and other considerations. ‒Advising and coordinating project outputs from a range of disciplines / professionals, working in a multidisciplinary design team including internal and external consultants. ‒Management, including financial management, of projects including planning applications, planning appraisals, development plan representations, land promotion etc. You will be supported by the project lead. ‒Strategic monitoring of local, regional and national planning policy and legislation. ‒Managing and mentoring junior members of the team through their APC qualification and supporting them in their overall professional development. Person Specification/Requirements ‒Dynamic, enthusiastic, flexible and commercially astute with excellent interpersonal skills. ‒Strong focus on own professional skills and integrity, with detail-oriented approach to quality assurance of colleague and other consultant deliverables. ‒Professional Membership of either the RICS (P&D) or RTPI with relevant experience post qualification experience. ‒The ability and confidence to engage directly with clients and be the primary point of contact, driving major projects forward. ‒Manage and coordinate the input and activities of other professionals within project design teams, give advice and direction, and make decisions. ‒Experience of working on major schemes either within the private or public sectors. ‒The ability to multi-task, work to tight timescales, with minimal supervision and to a high standard. ‒Willingness and/or ability to identify and nurture new business opportunities. ‒Excellent written and verbal communication skills and analytical abilities. ‒Confident team player able to work well with colleagues and clients as well as manage, nurture and mentor junior members of the team.
