Job Title: Associate Director, Surveillance, PV Processes, Partnerships and Contracts

Introduction to role:Are you ready to lead and innovate in the field of surveillance? As the Associate Director, Surveillance, you will be at the forefront of handling operational activities within your assigned area. Your role will involve being responsible for day-to-day operations, handling procedural documents, attending key meetings, and ensuring compliance. You'll work closely with collaborators both within and outside the organization, offering safety expertise and building connections across Global Patient Safety and various cross-functional departments. This is your chance to lead cross-functional process improvement initiatives and drive the processes and partnership strategy forward!
Accountabilities:Own the lifecycle management of assigned surveillance areas and partnerships, ensuring business continuity, compliance, and alignment with AstraZeneca standards and regulatory requirements.
Act as the primary point of contact for all matters related to assigned surveillance areas, including meetings and cross-functional coordination.
Represent the surveillance function in cross-functional teams and projects, collaborating to deliver technical solutions and operational improvements.
Serve as a delegate for the Surveillance Process Area Lead when required, supporting strategic and operational responsibilities.
Collaborate with internal collaborators and functional teams to manage process and system-related activities effectively.
Support patient safety operations through process expertise and contribute to the continuous improvement of meeting practices, including issue resolution and solution development.
Deliver training to internal teams, partners, and collaborators to ensure consistent understanding and execution of surveillance processes.
Drive the development and enhancement of standards, methodologies, and tools to improve quality, efficiency, and compliance.
Identify and implement innovative practices and streamlined processes to enhance deliverables and operational performance.
Support audit and inspection readiness and execution within the assigned surveillance area.
Perform additional duties as needed to support the Director of Surveillance and Periodic Reporting and the broader CMO function.
Crucial Skills/Experience:A science/pharmacy/nursing degree, with at least 10 years of total experience, including 5+ years in pharmaceuticals, regulatory affairs, safety, or partnerships.
Key competencies include cross-functional collaboration, project leadership, strong scientific and drug development knowledge, and excellent interpersonal skills.
The candidate should demonstrate cultural adaptability, ethical integrity, and proficiency in negotiation, conflict resolution, and change management.
Familiarity with AstraZeneca’s business processes, fluency in English, and digital literacy are also crucial.
Desirable Skills/Experience:MSc, PhD, or equivalent experience in a scientific field.
Strong understanding of current and emerging regulatory and pharmacovigilance practices.
Understanding of AstraZeneca’s external collaborations and the CMO operating model.
Experience working with third-party vendors and in global pharmaceutical environments.
Background in global pharmaceutical organizations, with insight into the drug development lifecycle and commercial operations.
