As an Assistant Chief Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in collaborating closely with the Director of Engineering to uphold the highest standards of maintenance\. Your efforts will ensure the seamless, safe, and efficient operation of our hotel facilities and equipment, all in accordance with Hilton's esteemed policies and procedures\. **What will I be doing?**
As the Assistant Chief Engineer, you will be responsible for performing the following tasks to the highest standards:
•Strategic Leadership and Supervision
Spearhead the implementation of robust problem reporting systems and routine maintenance protocols to ensure optimal condition of buildings, facilities, and surroundings\.
Provide visionary guidance and oversight to both internal teams and external contractors, ensuring seamless execution of maintenance plans\.
•Maintenance Planning and Coordination
Architect comprehensive maintenance strategies for facilities and equipment, ensuring meticulous supervision and smooth implementation\.
Evaluate and refine quotations from Purchasing Manager, ensuring alignment with project specifications and budgetary constraints\.
•Contract Negotiation and Compliance
Skillfully negotiate with contractors, ensuring adherence to stringent company, local, and regional health and safety standards\.
Maintain rigorous follow\-up to guarantee quality and compliance in all contracted work\.
•Inventory and Operations Optimization
Oversee operations within the Engineering department, implementing cutting\-edge inventory management practices\.
Ensure efficient organization and inspection of inventory to support operational excellence\.
•Equipment Evaluation and Lifecycle Management
Collaborate with the Director of Engineering on long\-term equipment assessments, formulating strategic overhaul and re\-purchase plans\.
Ensure the safe and efficient operation of all machine rooms and equipment, prioritizing operational integrity\.
•Safety and Regulatory Compliance
Vigilantly monitor fire safety and promptly address any safety hazards to prevent accidents\.
Liaise with Fire, Power Supply, Water Supply, Urban Management, and Epidemic Prevention departments to ensure comprehensive documentation and compliance\.
•Financial Stewardship and Budget Management
Assist in the development and management of annual budgets, ensuring prudent financial control and resource allocation\.
Implement strategies to achieve budgetary goals and optimize financial performance\.
•Policy Implementation and Governance
Supervise and enforce hotel management policies and procedures, ensuring consistent adherence and operational efficiency\.
Maintain accurate and comprehensive records to ensure effective documentation\.
•Human Resource Management and Development
Optimize personnel management to ensure peak efficiency during working hours\.
Conduct regular performance evaluations, providing constructive feedback and guidance for employee development\.
Facilitate cross\-training opportunities within the hotel, other hotels, or external institutions to enhance employee skillsets\.
**What are we looking for?**
An Assistant Chief Engineer serving Hilton Brands is always working on behalf of our Guests and working with other Team Members\. To successfully fill this role, you should maintain the attitude, behaviours, skills, and values that follow:
• Certification or Degree in Engineering, Facilities Management, or a related field; professional certifications are a plus\.
• Proven experience in engineering or maintenance management, with at least 3\-5 years in a leadership role, preferably in the hospitality industry\.
• Pre\-opening experience is an added advantage\.
• Possess knowledge of the requirements of government regulations and technical rules\.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems\.
• Exceptional leadership and team management skills\.
• Proficiency in maintenance management systems and Microsoft Office applications\.
• Excellent problem\-solving and decision\-making abilities\.
• Strong organizational and project management skills\.
• Familiarity with local building codes, safety regulations, and energy management practices\.
