Area Specialist, Controls & Software

Are you a Sales professional looking for an opportunity to grow? If yes, we have an exciting opportunity for you! The Area Specialist, Controls & Software owns a defined region to drive orders growth for our PACSystems and Movicon portfolio based in the Central Plains United States Region, (North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, Iowa, Missouri, and Kansas). You will be responsible for managing and developing distribution partners, system integrators, OEMs and End Users. This position requires a strong understanding of industrial controls & software technology, channel dynamics, and customer needs. A bias towards growth and consistently hitting orders targets is critical for success.

Working in-tandem with our regional sales teams, the Area Specialist, Controls & Software drives successful new product introductions, growth program realization through channel partners, and new business development initiatives. You will lead mutual action planning with our distribution partners, train & develop system integrators, and lead specification efforts with end users, OEMs, and EPCs. Must be comfortable giving technical demonstrations and presentations to showcase our capabilities/benefits to customers across various industries.

IN THIS ROLE, YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES WILL BE: 

Drive Growth & Build Pipeline: Own orders growth for the Controls (PACSystems) and Software (Movicon) portfolio within a defined region. Working with Distribution, System Integrators, OEMs, and End Users build and maintain a strong sales pipeline with a focus on new customer acquisition, opportunity creation, and deal closure. Leverage broader Discrete Automation sales teams to identify project & synergy opportunities. Technology Expertise: Understand customer needs and provide technical consultation across technologies to deliver tailored, value-based automation offerings such as: Programmable Automation and Logic Controllers (PAC/PLC) & Remote I/O Technologies, Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), Servo Motion, Machine Safety Systems, Process Safety Systems, Operator Interfaces, Automation Software -  HMI/SCADA, Cloud/Edge Computing Technologies. Channel Management: Manage and grow relationships with regional channel partners, including distributors and system integrators. Drive joint business planning, ensure partners are enabled on the full Controls & Software portfolio, and support them with training, technical resources, and sales tools. Actively monitor partner performance, identify gaps, and implement strategies to increase engagement, coverage, and revenue contribution. Drive Specification:  Influence and secure end-user, OEM, and EPC specifications to position the complete Controls & Software portfolio early in the project lifecycle. Sales Reporting & Forecasting: Provide accurate forecasts, participate in budgeting cycles, and deliver regular reporting on sales activities, opportunity progression, customer feedback, and automation market insights. Market & Competitive Intelligence: Stay current on regional market dynamics, competitor strategies, and technology trends; share actionable insights with the Controls & Software Strategic Business Unit to inform go-to-market strategies.

You show resourcefulness and are resilient at balancing partners’ goals while identifying and seizing new opportunities.

FOR THIS ROLE, YOU WILL NEED: 

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field.  A strong understanding of technology, channel dynamics and customer needs as it pertains to the industrial controls and software space – with a minimum of 4 years experience  Proven track record of driving growth – always driving to hit monthly orders quota Excellent communication and relationship-building skills Proficiency in CRM systems Ability to travel 50-60% of the time

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS THAT SET YOU APART:  

Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Business, or related technology Experience in Industrial Account Management and Distribution Management Understanding of channel partner needs & the associated sales process Working knowledge of discrete automation solutions supporting technologies listed below preferred.  Programmable Automation and Logic Controllers (PAC/PLC) & Remote I/O Topologies Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) Servo Motion Machine Safety Systems Process Safety Systems Operator Interfaces  Automation Software -  HMI/SCADA Cloud/Edge Computing & Control Technologies Industrial Communication Protocols & Networking Open Source Programming Utiities Industry experience in adjacent technologies may be considered Information & Operations Technology (IT/OT) and how they converge Electrical/Industrial or Manufacturing software MES & MIS Cloud computing Mechatronics/Robotics & Instrumentation Solid skills to discover, build and present interactive, relevant, and engaging presentation materials regarding the subject matter to move an opportunity forward

Our compensation philosophy is simple: we pay a competitive base salary, within the local market in which we operate, and reward performance during our annual merit review process. The compensation range for this position is $125,000 - $155,000 annually plus a target incentive bonus commensurate with the skills, talent, capabilities, and experience each candidate brings to a role.
