Applications Engineer – Commercial Pilots

This role will provide comprehensive technical assistance for all DuPont and partner-owned CCRO pilot assets throughout every stage of the pilot process. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring the success of pilot projects by actively engaging in pre-pilot planning, executing pilot operations, and conducting thorough post-pilot analysis. By leveraging technical expertise and attention to detail, the Applications Engineer will help drive innovation and efficiency in the piloting process, contributing to the success of our projects and partnerships. **Your Key Responsibilities:** **Pre-Pilot Phase:** + Assist in opportunity qualification and identification of project goals, scope, and potential risks and opportunities. + Develop a thorough understanding of site water quality analysis and overall process design, including pre-treatment and post-treatment methodologies. + Prepare projections for antiscalant chemicals and CCRO operations utilizing WAVE and third-party software, such as AWC Proton and Avista Advisor. + Create formal pilot proposals for stakeholder review. **Planning Phase:** + Actively participate in internal and external project kick-off meetings to align objectives and processes. + Prepare or review opportunity-specific pilot protocols as developed by clients or their engineering teams. + Collaborate with the Pilot Coordinator and Customer Success Manager to order essential membrane elements, spacers, and consumables, ensuring timely logistics and field service scheduling. **Pilot Start-Up & Commissioning:** + Work alongside project stakeholders to review and finalize start-up checklists, safety protocols, and any special requirements necessary for successful pilot initiation. **Pilot Testing Period:** + Serve as the technical lead for the pilot, acting as the primary point of contact for clients and/or engineering firms regarding all process-related inquiries or challenges. + Coordinate with the Customer Success Manager, who will address all mechanical or service-related questions, to ensure effective communication with clients and engineering teams. + Collaborate with the Customer Success Manager and engage with regional directors, applications engineering, and management as needed to support the pilot process. + Monitor daily pilot operations and performance through remote applications; work with the Pilot Coordinator and other stakeholders to address and resolve operational and maintenance issues promptly. + Prepare interim performance reports and present updates during regularly scheduled progress meetings with clients and/or engineering teams, as determined in kick-off meetings. **Post-Pilot Phase:** + Compile a comprehensive Final Pilot Study Report detailing the results of the pilot study, incorporating formal data analysis for stakeholder evaluation. **Qualifications:** + Bachelor's degree or higher in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field (minimum BS required). + At least five years of experience in reverse osmosis design, performance analysis, and troubleshooting. + Proven ability to develop plans and schedules with clearly defined milestones and outcomes. **Key Competencies:** + _Functional Skills_ – demonstrated competency in chemical process engineering, including membrane and other separations technologies, as well as project management. + _Self-Driven_ – exhibits a clear sense of purpose and is able and willing to take risks and do difficult things. + _Highly Collaborative_ – engages individuals/teams to achieve superior results and creates an atmosphere of value-driven outcomes. + _Embraces diversity_ – seeks out and surrounds oneself with people who are and think differently and has broader awareness of the value of diversity and inclusion. + _Learning Agility_ – possesses a personal drive to learn, pivot when necessary, and adapt to the ever-changing needs of our Company in the face of a changing world and customer base. + _Intellectual Curiosity_ – proactively invests time and energy into learning more and personally developing in the interest of improving oneself and delivering better results. + _Continuous Improvement_ – learns from successes and failures and integrates those learnings into how to continuously improve one’s contribution.
