Analog Mixed Signal ASIC Designer
**Introduction** IBM Research takes responsibility for technology and its role in society. Working in IBM Research means you'll join a team who invent what's next in computing, always choosing the big, urgent and mind-bending work that endures and shapes generations. Our passion for discovery, and excitement for defining the future of tech, is what builds our strong culture around solving problems for clients and seeing the real world impact that you can make. IBM's product and technology landscape includes Research, Software, and Infrastructure. Entering this domain positions you at the heart of IBM, where growth and innovation thrive. As a Hardware Developer at IBM, you'll get to work on the systems that are driving the quantum revolution and the AI era. Join an elite team of experimentalists in quantum computing building a path towards scalable fault tolerant quantum computation. **Your role and responsibilities** This role is for an analog/mixed-signal integrated circuit designer who will contribute to the development of advanced high-performance circuits in advanced nodes for exploratory applications. We focus on circuit designs targeting the development of differentiated solutions for a range of communication and computation challenges, including the creation of CMOS-based electronics for quantum computing applications. Successful applicants will have demonstrated experience in RF, analog, and/or mixed signal circuit design. In this role, you may be tasked with designing blocks such as phase-locked-loops, digital-to-analog converters, analog-to-digital converters, RF or wireline transmitters, RF or wireline receivers, and complex mixed-signal subsystems. You will be involved in all aspects of design projects from concept to system integration to bringup and test; demonstrated hands-on lab skills are therefore important. In addition, background in communication theory and systems and/or quantum computing would be advantageous. **Required technical and professional expertise** '- Degree: Master’s degree or equivalent experience - Analog/Mixed-Signal Circuit Design: A strong foundation in RF, analog, and/or mixed-signal circuit design (2 years), - CMOS implementation: Demonstrated expertise through successful implementation of RF, analog, and/or mixed-signal designs in deep submicron CMOS technology, including an understanding of CMOS device characteristics (2 years) - EDA: A thorough knowledge of the Cadence IC design framework, (2 years). **Preferred technical and professional experience** '- Degree: Doctorate - RF, Analog, and/or mixed signal circuit design: Experience in schematic and physical design of phase-locked-loops, digital-to-analog converters, analog-to-digital converters, RF or wireline transmitters, RF or wireline receivers, and complex mixed-signal subsystems - Custom Digital Circuit Design: Proficiency in custom digital circuit design and implementation in deep submicron technology (2 years). - Programming Skills: Candidates with strong programming skills in commonly used languages (2 years). - Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills are highly valued for effective collaboration within the team.
